This also means that the heavier the syllabus (think our parents' era), the more to memorize, and the 'smarter' you're considered if you managed to score in that era.

Nowadays, the edu system is trying to focus less on 'spoon-feeding'information and more on 'facilitating'discussions (to encourage 'creativity' and independent learning). We tend to call such teachers "lazy" because we're-still in-an-exam-oriented-culture-and-what-we need-is-efficient-spoon-feeding-so-please-don't-give-us-that-crap. =P Less emphasis is placed on content, and more on how to learn, and we end up not knowing so much anymore. The 'correct answer' becomes subjective (esp in literature), and marks are easier to score. The government is even trying to create a 'less-exam oriented' education system by abolishing PMR. *shrugs* Dunnoe if that'll help, seriously.

I don't know if there's any perfect education system in the world, really. The way I see it, the education system will be criticized either way. How is creativity supposed to be taught, anyway? Perhaps you have some ideas on how to revamp the education system, and perhaps I might be able to implement them in my own teaching philosophies later in life. =)

But Moral is stupid, I agree. =P

Comment on Why bother

i'm truly sorry too. because i was really really looking forward to a really nice holiday at the beach. i dint have an actual holiday/vacation ever since i joined mpyo (i'm not complaining though)because everytime there's a holiday i'd be at camp and my family would be somewhere else.

my parents dint allow me to go cuz i'll be taking exams and stuff. and i wont study during camp.

maybe a short trip to somewhere is possible/easier for everyone. :)

Comment on Why bother

I'm sure none of us lost interest in the holiday. I was looking forward to spending time with everyone without having to rush for rehearsals in between. Sometimes things just don't turn out the way we want them to. I really appreciate what you've done. ie looking for nice places to stay and all.

And just for the record, I'm not pulling out because I/parents think it's expensive. I was fully prepared to pay the money.

Cheer up. We can still go for a trip somewhere if everything pans out.

Comment on Hole

Very nicely put.

Comment on No rest for the weary

Haha I think I know you Thanks.
Comment on No rest for the weary

I enjoy reading your post. :) Like the way you write.
